BREEAM and The Code for Sustainable Homes
BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) is the leading and most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings. It sets the standard for best practice in sustainable design and has become the de facto measure used to describe a building's environmental performance.

The Code for Sustainable Homes
We can provide Code assessments and advice for both private and social housing developments. We are able to identify and advise on a variety of achievable criteria or ‘credits’ in order to reach the desired Code Level. We would advise being involved at an early stage of a project, so that we can make this process as cost effective and as efficient as possible.
The Code for Sustainable Homes has been developed to enable a step change in sustainable building practice for new homes. In the short-term, Code compliance is voluntary but home builders are encouraged to follow Code principles set out in this publication because the Government is considering making assessment under Code standards mandatory in the future.

The Code measures the sustainability of a home against design categories, rating the ‘whole home’ as a complete package. Those familiar with building regulations, will recognise this as a major and welcome departure from current practice.
